Case Study: Strayer University — “Only the Driven”

To launch Strayer University’s new campaign and tagline, “Only the Driven,” we put graduates at the center of the story. Rather than relying on scripted messaging, the campaign was built around real alumni sharing their personal paths to success—allowing Strayer to stand apart in a highly competitive adult education landscape.

We identified and featured five graduates from diverse backgrounds, each with unique life experiences but a shared determination to better their lives through adult education. Their stories became the foundation of the campaign, highlighting grit, perseverance, and ambition as defining traits of the Strayer community.

We produced a documentary-style film that authentically captured each graduate’s journey, paired with portrait photography that reinforced the strength and individuality of the subjects. The content was designed to feel aspirational yet relatable—celebrating achievement without losing authenticity.

The film and photography were deployed across multiple channels, including:

  • Television

  • Rich media and digital banners

  • Print advertising

  • Outdoor and billboard placements

By elevating real voices and real outcomes, the campaign reinforced the “Only the Driven” message as a lived truth rather than a marketing claim—positioning Strayer University as a brand that understands and celebrates the determination of adult learners.
